Nestled within the vibrant University of Essex Students' Union, The Greenhouse Cafe (Starbucks) is more than just your average coffee shop; it's a sanctuary for students and visitors alike seeking a cozy atmosphere paired with quality beverages. With its charming decor and inviting ambiance, this café serves as a perfect retreat for study sessions, casual meet-ups, or simply a well-deserved coffee break.

The Greenhouse Cafe stands out with its commitment to serving a variety of delicious drinks that cater to every palate. One highlight mentioned by patrons is the warm and aromatic Chai Latte, a velvety blend of spices that wraps you in comfort with each sip. The drink has garnered fans for its perfect balance of sweetness and spice, making it a favorite among regulars like Llinos Evans. However, delighting in these flavors comes with the ambiance, which may occasionally lean towards the boisterous side, particularly when ice is being prepared. While this might pose a hurdle for quiet conversation, it undeniably adds to the lively café culture.

The decor of The Greenhouse Cafe is beautifully styled, embracing a blend of modern chic and natural elements that evoke a sense of tranquility, ensuring that you're not just drinking coffee, but also enjoying an experience. Reema Bin Muaythir encapsulates this essence perfectly—expressing her love for the café's set-up, where every corner offers a unique view and inviting seating. It's a space that encourages you to settle in, sip your drink, and perhaps lose yourself in a good book or lively discussion.

While the café enjoys a bustling atmosphere, some have found accessing it to be challenging. Customer Eric Dingman highlighted difficulties with parking and navigating the campus, with a simple coffee run turning into a frustrating ordeal. However, these challenges haven’t deterred the loyal following that this vibrant spot has cultivated. Many like Hyun Suk Lee continue to express their love for the café, noting only minor inconveniences, such as glitches with Starbucks memberships, that don’t overshadow the genuine appreciation for the café’s offerings.

Whether you are a student looking to fuel your study sessions or a visitor wanting to soak in the local vibe, The Greenhouse Cafe offers a warm welcome paired with quality drinks and a pleasant atmosphere. Come for the Chai Latte, stay for the ambience—this café is a must-visit spot at the University of Essex.

Very neat place, often quite busy. The Chai Latte is probably my favourite thing that they have. Comfy seating, open quite late, and good drinks. My one problem is that it's often extremely loud, especially when ice is being cut(?). It happens very often, so talking can be quite difficult.

Don't come here. Impossible to park on campus. Asked 10 people for location and no one knew. Total waste of time and money for parking and no coffee !

I love this place. The only bummer is that the Starbucks membership isn't working.
